Navi Mumbai, July 27, 2024 — In a harrowing incident that has shocked the community, a 20-year-old woman, Yashshri Shinde, was brutally murdered and her body discovered in the bushes near a railway station in Uran. The police are currently on a manhunt for the prime suspect, believed to be Shinde's former lover, Dawood Shaikh.


According to police sources, Shinde, who lived with her family in Uran and worked in Belapur, was reported missing on Thursday morning after she failed to return from work. Her family filed a missing person’s report at the Uran police station late that evening when they were unable to reach her.


The grim discovery was made at 2 a.m. on Saturday when authorities received a call about a woman's body found in the bushes. A police team promptly arrived at the scene, and Shinde's identity was confirmed by her family at the hospital. An autopsy revealed multiple stab wounds on her stomach and back, confirming the brutal nature of the crime.


Shinde’s father, Surendra Kumar, has identified Dawood Shaikh as the primary suspect. Police suspect that the murder was motivated by a one-sided love affair, which had soured. They noted that while the body was not dismembered, the injuries were severe, and a thorough investigation is underway to determine if other crimes, such as sexual assault, were committed.


The Uran police have launched an extensive search operation, forming seven teams and engaging the crime branch in parallel investigations. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and tracking the suspect’s location to apprehend him swiftly.


Senior police officers have stated that the investigation is progressing, and they are committed to bringing justice for Shinde. The case has sparked widespread concern and grief within the community, highlighting the urgent need for increased vigilance and support for those affected by domestic violence and stalking.
